Does Buddypress have anything to do with the user submission of Deals (Like in the redeals demo)

I think I already answered. Buddypress is only for making User profiles where they can add own logos, make private message with other, see own badges, points, etc

I was looking for a more specific answer wrt the functionality it adds to your theme. 

For example, and specifically, why do we need buddypress in the redeal demo.

It would be very helpful if you could even point me to urls of the pages etc that are buddypress related in the redeal demo. I could build up from there.

Buddypress is for making User profiles and community options. If you don't
plan to give users their profiles, you don't need this plugin
