how can I set image thumbnails to load in the grid on this page with blog entries https://tabelazdrowia.pl/blog/ from a different file, i.e. smaller size, and not download large images?

I would approach this from the image URL rather than the visual dimensions. WordPress can generate several sizes from the same uploaded image, so the grid should ideally call the appropriate thumbnail size instead of loading the original file.

If you're comfortable checking the theme files (as free games online), look at the template responsible for the blog grid and see whether it uses get_the_post_thumbnail() or another thumbnail function. The requested image size can usually be specified there. I'd also check the REHub image-size settings and regenerate thumbnails after changing the dimensions.

One quick test is to right-click one of the grid images and open it in a new tab. If you're getting the large original file, that's the issue. If you're getting a generated smaller image, then the browser is already downloading the smaller version and the remaining optimization would be things like WebP/AVIF and responsive srcset.
