I was told in comments on themeforest that all the functionality of child themes has been merged into the main theme. What's the point on having the child themes in versions 9.3+? Just want to make sure I am not missing anything :)

It's correct

I went into the theme on our server and saw the file named style.css is there. I opened it, and there is the entire content (also attached). The rtl.css is also empty. I downloaded a fresh version of the theme, unzipped the redirect child theme and got the same thing. I am not sure if that is it, but felt like offering the info might be useful.
